We’re still digesting the beautiful details of the Fall 2010 Haute Couture shows and one of the most striking – and of course, very French – details we noticed was how darn glamourous Jean Paul Gaultier makes smoking look! Kids, don’t try this at home.

Inception – great movie from director Christopher Nolan. Full of crazy mind-bending twists and turns but one really enjoyable part is the men’s costumes. Absolutely immaculate three-piece suits, sophisticato tie knots, Japanese-inspired tuxedo’s with kimono wrap shirts, perfectly worn brown leather jackets for the shoot-em-up scenes.

Our favorite character is Tom Hardy’s ‘Eames’ who wore an inspiring combination of retro-styled printed Cuban shirts, true-waist pleated trousers and wool shawl collar sport coats with Italian and French notes. Sadly, we haven’t been able to locate any good photos of his looks so you’ll just have to go see the film for yourself!

Oh, and it turns out the costume designer Jeffrey Kurland designed every outfit himself and had them custom-made of vintage and found fabrics! Read more about it here on Esquire magazine’s blog.

How’s this for the class picture of your dreams? Givenchy’s Fall 2010 couture collection is, as always, totally to die for.

Our vote for the most beautiful film of the year is “I Am Love starring the ridiculously talented Tilda Swinton. Although her character is the matriarch of a wealthy Italian family, she looks more like an elegant Irving Penn-type model as she walks the cobblestone streets of misty, moody Milano. Trust us, there’s nothing dated about her head-to-toe Jil Sander wardrobe – every shot had us inspired to run home and toss out all our jeans and tee’s.

Mon dieu! Maybe we’re a bit late to the party but we just discovered the Chanel blog and we’re completely smitten!

This is definitely the place to get your daily required Chanel dose with postings of red carpet and fashion show coverage, Karl’s short films, detailed shots of Coco Chanel’s apartment and even a listing of rare collectible Chanel items such as limited edition petanque boules (a french version of bocce ball).

But the coolest thing we’ve seen so far is the behind-the-scenes coverage of the FW10 ad that Karl photographed on Kemal’s Lower East Side apartment block.

Who came up with this match made in heaven? Two of our favorite people – the iconic textile designer Iris Apfel who’s personal style has heavily influenced us and almost every other person in the fashion world and Brooklyn-based jewelry designer Alexis Bittar who’s Fall 2010 collection had us swooning, arriving at the CFDA awards together. Congratulations are due to Alexis for taking home the “Accessory Designer of the Year” Award!
